COACHES UPCOMING TRAINING!

Greetings Edina Football Association Volunteer Coaches,

The EFA is ramping up its efforts in 2010 to improve all of our abilities to coach Edina youth football players. We know how important great coaching is for players to have a fun experience playing football. Please read the following carefully and schedule your time accordingly to make the training sessions.  

• July 26 at 5:00- 4th grade coaches in the stands at Kuhlman Field.
• July 27 at 5:00- 5th grade coaches in the stands at Kuhlman Field.
• August 3 at 7:00- 8th grade coaches training on offense at Kuhlman Field.
• August 5 at 7:00- 6th and 7th grade coaches training on the offense at Kuhlman Field.
• August 10 at 7:00- 6/7/8 grade coaches training on the defense the locker room at ECC.


Following are the training elements for 2010:

  • EFA coaches are encouraged to be on the field at Kuhlman Stadium and attend any sessions of new Edina High School Head Coach Reed Boltmann's camp. The Edina Football Skills camp runs Monday through Thursday the weeks of July 19 and July 26. 4th through 6th grade camp is from 5:00-6:00, grades 7th and 8th is from 6:00-7:00 and grades 9-12 is from 7:00-8:30. Attending will let you see how the High School staff teaches the fundamental skills so important to football success. Please plan to attend one of these sessions.
  • Mandatory Sessions 4th-5th Grades. On Monday, July 26 and Tuesday, July 27 at Kuhlman Stadium, EFA Coaches Training Committee members will meet with coaches immediately after the Boltmann camp sessions. The 4th-5th grade meeting will occur at 6:00. Meetings will last one hour. We will discuss EFA philosophy,expectations and what you have seen on the field at Coach Boltmann's camp. We will also answer any questions you have. It is mandatory that you attend one of these sessions for your grade.   
  • Mandatory Sessions 6th-8th Grade. EHS coaches will host training on August 3 and August 5 EHS coaches will host offensive training sessions.  August 3 will be for 8th grade coaches and august 5th for 6th and 7th grade coaches. A defensive training session will be held on August 10.  EFA representatives will also be there to answer your questions.  There is a huge step from 5th to 6th, 7th and 8th grade football and you need to understand these differences to help you be prepared.   It is mandatory for 6th, 7th and 8th grade coaches to attend; 4th -  5th grade coaches are welcome to attend.
